Hi,

I've bought Myst on GOG and I'm now in Channelwood. Whenever I enter either elevator, and use the handle, the game crash:

One of the elevator made the mouse disappear, and upon save-reload, the game asked for a CD. The game being an online bought game makes it diffficult to insert a CD!

I rebooted the PC and restarted Myst and could go back to the game. I tried to entrer the other elevator but the game crashed to the desktop as soon as I used the handle.

Anyone else having the problem?

Try running the game in Compatibility mode for Win XP or Win 98. Right-click the game's shortcut, select Properties and go to the Compatibility tab. Set the mode there and check the option to run the game as an Administrator.

It turns out that quitting and retrying did the trick.

Once the QT for the elevator kcik in, I never had problems afterwards. Perhaps the QT engine crashed? Who knows... So case closed, the game runs fine on defaults Win8 settings...

Good! QT could indeed have been the problem. It's known for causing trouble from time to time on newer systems and it seems to be more stable in compatibility mode too btw, just in case the issue reappears.
