game will install but crashes when i try to open it, won't even show black screen

downloaded the game from gog tried to open it, didn't work
changed UAC settings to lowest, didn't work
downloaded newer/older/alternative QT and played with compatibility with them, didn't work
tried every compatibility setting on the shortcut and the original exe, didn't work
tried running it in admin mode, didn't work
even updated windows :) , you guessed it, didn't wok

really frustrated, please help.
by the way i'm running win 7 32 bit.
