Greetings and salutations one and all.

I'm Animeman73, as well as being a fan of all things anime I'm also a gamer. Once upon a time I frequently visited the world Atreus and the D'ni. I and seeking to purchase Myst, Riven, and try my luck at Myst V: End of Ages. (Now if only they would get !!! and IV on this site that would make me really happy). However it's also come to my attention that um...some of the Myst games have some issues with Windows 7. I myself have a 64-bit operating system for my wonderful quad core computer. I would like recommendations from anyone here who is a fan of Myst as as to which version of the original game I should buy, which one would be compatible with my computer without any problems. I'm quite eager to get back to those worlds.

So if anyone has any recommendations as to which version of the original Myst might be the most compatible with my computer please let me know in the comments. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

"RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition" is the most recent and most expensive version, and I imagine you won't have any compatibility issues because it runs in a modern game engine. But in my opinion, it's also feels like a completely different game from the original Myst. I guess I just don't like the "improved" graphics.

"Myst Masterpiece Edition" has the original game's look and feel but I did experience a lot of game crashes. Many members of the community have struggled to get this version to launch at all. And worst of all, there are two puzzle bugs introduced by the developers in this version that make it impossible to complete without cheating, and there is no fix.

So "RealMyst" is the version I would recommend for you. It is in full 3D instead of point-and-click, and there may still be some compatibility problems for you to solve - hopefully not, but it's a risk you take when running older games. The only other option is installing the original Myst CD on an older operating system, but that's a different can of worms...
