After purchasing and enjoying RealMyst on steam, i looked to get Riven but got scared off by the prevelant issues apparently plaguing the game on newer operating systems. I'm seeing quite a few topics here as well so while $3 isn't too much of a gamble, i am curious as to it's playability.

Note: that's windows 7 64 bit...yes i have a habit of forgetting to type small, yet critical details. really quite funny sometimes.

I'm on windows 7 64 bit, too. I solved any video related problem by installing Riven in a directory different than the usual /Programs (x86)/... which needs admin rights to be accessed, and it is often not manageable by older games which are not aware of this.
For example, installing it in C:\Riven works without any problem.
Needs a version of QuickTime installed, however. QT alternative works flawlessly.
