I love the puzzle and the mysteries in this game. But its super unstable. This game keeps crashing even I have kept my windows up to date. I have to keep saving the game every 1 or 2 mins. Sometimes it even crashes when I want to save the game. Dear fellow gamers, you can still try to purchase this game but be prepared for the application crash.

Same here with Real Myst (3D) ... games crashes or freezes randomly :-(

I have the same problem. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and I downloaded the new release of Myst: Masterpiece Edition from GOG. Everything works fine--the Quicktime videos, the interface, saving and loading.

However, at seemingly random times, the game freezes. If any sound is playing at the time, it will loop. The only thing I can do at this point is bring up Task Manager and kill the process.

For what it's worth, I actually had no problems with the Quicktime videos in the previous version, as long as I ran the game in Windows XP compatibility mode, but I had the exact same random freezing issue.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm on Windows 7 x64 and I've found that running it on XP compatibility mode makes it much more likely to crash. Since GOG updated the game for W7 compatibility, the only crashes I've had have been when running it in compatibility mode (I was trying to see if it helped with a different bug I'm having, the mechanical age fortress controls don't work properly).

Hello Everyone

I redownloaded Myst:Masterpiece edition for my Win 7 x64 computer as of 12/12/2010. The game still randomly crashes regardless of running it XP SP3 compatibility mode or running it plain. I have an HP laptop, dual core Turion M500 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series.

Progress has been made-the quicktime videos work without having to run in XP compatibility mode when I downloaded the game last year.

Has anyone made any progress in getting the game to run on Win 7 x64? If so please share your settings.
