I had been playing a couple of hours and was tired of running back and forth to crank the generator. It does not give you 10 minutes to explore. I was reaady to quit and go to the book room to go back to Myst when, yep, the battery went dead. So back up the lighthouse and went to crank the generator and there was a flash, and everything went dead. Could not move the wheel and it didn't want me to leave the room. I just had to quit the game. Is there a way to fix the generator or do I have to start all over with a new game? I am very frustrated with this game. I loved the original and had no problems with it. Also, my son who bought the same game for himself said he got a flashlight in his game so you could see in dark places when the battery died. Anybody else get a flashlight? I didn't.
Press the F key. Unless you're playing Masterpiece (slideshow) type, in which case, hope you like solving puzzles in the dark.

Speaking of which, if you want the lights to stay on, you need to solve the age's major puzzle. Hope you read the journals.
Just use a walkthrough to get past it. You might rage quit even with it or you will enjoy the game more. Some of early Cyan's puzzles can induce rage quitting even with cheating. So, cheat and enjoy =)

You know, a great option for many adventure games (and some other games) is www.uhs-hints.com. You can often get the answers you need with minimal spoilers.
