I posted another topic the other day (apologies) because I was struggling to get QuickTime and/or Myst: ME running under WINE (on Ubuntu 11.10 x64, FWIW).
I just wanted to share, since I hadn't really seen it anywhere else here: if you are wanting to play Myst: ME under Linux, I suggest looking at ScummVM. It's still in development, but their daily builds (link at the end of the post) works with the engine for Myst.
I was unable to get the videos playing well under WINE, and after trying WINE 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 *and* 1.5, as well as QuickTime 5/6/7... I never got the game into a playable state. With ScummVM... it ran perfectly. I'm still early in the game, but saving/loading seems to work fine, the game runs smoothly, and the videos (intro, library) are playing perfectly. Just wanted to share this for anyone looking to play one of the classics.
Link to ScummVM daily builds: Here
Side note, this could be a nice way to play something like Myst on other devices too (GP2X, Android, etc.)... though I can't confirm how well it works.
