I'm running windows 7 64-bit. I have just recently made it to the clock tower out in the water (I'm not sure if this is relevant) and whenever I pull down on one of the levers to the left or right to change the number sequence the game crashes, every time. I tried the regedit help in hopes that this might solve the issue, it did not. I didn't expect this game to run without issue but I also didn't expect to play the game for 20 minutes before having issues. Does anyone else have this crashing problem? After it crashes the game stays on screen and I have to ctrl-alt-del to end the program to get back to the desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well i'm running Win 7 64bit , and i don't have any problems.
Since i got the sound fixed , the game runs smooth as like in the old days when game was first released.
Update graphics driver - take a look at what is running in the background - etc. , is my advice.

I run Windows XP 32bits and myst is crashing in the wood age at random places. In the background, I have only Kaspersky running

Thank you for your help, I have made sure that my graphics driver is up to date. I have also noticed that I'm in a permanent "zip mode". I do not see any of the animations playing. I'm guessing this has something to do with my quicktime settings. I have made sure I have the most up to date player but for some reason it's still not working. Is anyone else having this many problems?

I'm having the same issue as you, no transitions (even when checked) and more importantly the movies aren't playing, including the intro. This is on Windows 7 64bit. Norton 2010 also flagged it as suspicious and I had to go in and restore Myst.exe

Yeah Im having All of the same problems in Vista 64bit. No transitions even when checked, no intro (I was waiting for like 3 min for something to happen when I loaded the game) and freezing at the clock tower when a lever is pulled.

Wow. So the second I posted my last post I tried throwing it into Compatibility Mode with WinXP SP 2 with 640x480 res and 256 colors as well as disabled visual themes just for the hell of it and all was fixed. Intros, animations and crashing in the clock tower. This marks the first time EVER that compatibility mode actually fixed something.

Wow, that's funny. About an hour ago I tried the same thing in windows 7. I switched the compatibility mode to XP (SP2) and the videos/animations are working. The clock tower even worked for a little bit! However it did end up crashing in the clock tower when I went to reset the numbers with the lever to the very far right.
One step at a time!

I have the same issue with the clock tower and apparantly the animations, but since I didn't know there were supposed to be animations I never missed them.
After finding this thread I tried the XP SP2 compatibility mode and now get the animations, unfortunately the game crashed on one of the first animations instead (when clicking the door painting in the library).

Crash at the clock-tower...

I've got the same problem here. Videos don't play at all for me unless I run in Vista compatibility mode, but then I always get crashes in the clock tower. Anyone have any more ideas? (I've got Windows 7 64-bit here)

Just another user adding to the list of those that have crashes in the clock tower. Will try the change of compatibility mode that one person said worked.

So I have bad news, I asked the support-team, and I tried really everything, from reinstalling Quicktime and/or Myst untill trying every single comp. mode.

You guys in Win7 having problems with missing videos (intro, for instance) and crashes, try 'Compatibility mode XP SP3', 'Run as admin' and 'Disable Visual Themes' applied to the shortcut.

Running pretty well until linking book in ship. Open the book, movie working, clicked on movie, opens to a bigger picture, runs for a few seconds then freezes. Tried XP SP2 and SP3 with no difference. Running Windows 7. Any advice would be most welcome.

Nothing works... but i did not try to run as admin ... don't know how to do this ... can you walk me throught it?
