Dont see the new hotfix listed in the download section for Vikings DLC.
I'm having the same issue. I'd like to get this updated so the game will actually work!
Looking for it as well.
Ok so its not just me.
Good to know.

I really am trying to start buying as many games here at GoG as I can but the patching seems a bit confusing and not quite as it should be so I hope that gets straightened out.
The support wrote me an email today, as I've been in conversation with them since the 10th. They gave me links to the latest version of Warband:

https : // www . taleworlds.com/en/Games/Warband/Download

Download the patch under the "Latest Patch" heading.

For Viking Conquest, get the hotfix here: http : // download2.taleworlds.com / mb_warband_viking_conquest_setup_1162_10_hotfix.exe

Don't mind it says "1162" in the filename, I think it should be installed together with the patch.

The game looks great and the CTDs stopped for me after installing those two.

Cheers!
Thanks for the link to the fix.

Unfortunately, when run, the program quits out, claiming I've never installed M&B Warband.

Actually, I've installed a version purchased via download on Amazon, and then again via GOG to get access to Viking Conquest.

So, apparently, despite owning the base game TWICE (both versions present and activated on my computer), I can't fix this buggy disaster because I never bought direct from Taleworlds?

Anyone have an answer for this? Is there a workaround? (Note: I'm NOT a computer-savvy dude, and will readily admit to the possibility of having missed a simple step somewhere.)
Ya same issue here.
Not sure why GoG hasnt addressed this yet with making the patch available.

Really surprising.

From amazon? I didn't know this was possible. I got my game from GOG, but actually, before installing the patch and fix, I accidentally downloaded the full Warband v.1.163 instead of the patch you can find it on the same page:
https : // www . taleworlds.com/en/Games/Warband/Download
Just download the link under "Latest Version", not under "Latest Patch". You can freely install this as a trial version. I suppose it created some registry entries for me, which then allowed me to patch my GOG version without the problems you are having.

At least it's worth a try.

I got an email today from Taleworlds support saying literally the following:

"We are working on a proper distribution system for the non steam versions of the game on our site but until then we will be sending you patches via mail like this.
[...]"

So I guess it will become available on GOG in the coming days.

Yeah, "Paradox Interactive" was the listed seller, which I assumed was a part of the Taleworlds entity? Maybe Not? I'll just add that to the pile of confusion...

This method (re-downloading the playable demo, direct from Taleworlds) had just this minute occurred to me, actually. If that's what you're describing.
Yeah, install it somewhere (like in Program files, the default option) and then try installing the patch and hotfix on your GOG installation.
So we get penalized for not buying from Steam?

This is something that should have been worked out between GoG and them long ago. This game has been pre-order for a while now.

This leave a real bad taste in my mouth in regards to getting away from Steam and moving my gaming buys here.

Sorry
I've got steam as well, but I prefer to buy stuff from GOG, whenever the discounts are the same or in favor of GOG of course. :)
I love LOVE GoG and the devs behind it, I just dont like patch confusion syndrome and its an issue here.

Come on gents get this stuff straightened out. You are too awesome for little things like that to reflect badly on your business.
Taleworlds are a small company, making games that are both complex and rather ugly-looking for today's standards. I'm hopeful they'll hit the bigtime with M&BII, but at the same time afraid that after this happens, along with their organization, their market strategies will improve as well, leading to ever prettier, better selling, but dumbed down games. Just like what happened to Paradox, ironically.

So yeah, @maramot, this does seem to have resolved the non-recognition problem between the different vendors. Thanks again for the links.

Not so many thanks to Taleworlds for releasing such a broken game, or to GOG for allowing it to go on sale/remain unfixed. :-[
