Me and my roomates are up to split for the game so we could play it together but is it possible?

From my experience, to play multiplayer in LAN you don't need cd keys. To play online, everyone needs to have a unique cd key except for the host, whoose key doesn't get checked. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

I have been LANing this at work. In my experience you will need a serial to connect to a LAN game but not to host. This means two of you could play off one serial as long as one of you is hosting. Only one of you will be able to play online at a time.
