Hey gog community!

I wanted to mod my M&B Warband, but i needed an older version, which, frankly, was available on the company's website - but now i cant activate that older version with my newly purchased gog-key!
Anyone encountered the same problem and has anyone found a solution?

Anyways, looking forward to your answers.

I can't replicate this problem!

I'm able to activate the latest version -1.160 off the Taleworlds site - without a problem using my GoG serial key.

The key you received off GoG should be in the form:

XXXX - XXXX - XXXX - XXXX

Are you certain your entering your key correctly? ( including capital letters / numbers / etc )

You can also try the manual activation option.

Do you have an account on the Taleworlds.com website?

If you register there you should be able to add the game into your account - you'll find out if your serial number is correct.

If you can't install the game or add the game there - I'd suggest contacting GoG Support.

Hi,

I just used my key for a mod I added, and it worked fine. Be sure your entering it right, and be sure you using the Warband key and not the Napoleonic Wars key.
hey
thanks for the fast response, but even after checking the codes, registration of the game and reinstalling it, i cannot activate it, it still replies with the error 'Activation Denied'. Maybe it has to do with the version, i'm trying to activate it is 1.153?
Anyways. thanks for the help so far.

Edit:
it is interesting, a loader for the WES accepts my key, while the base game dose not, still leaving me unable to play this older version with mods.

Edit2:

Tested it with the version 1.160, works fine somehow, but i still need the older version for the mods - wired....

Edit3:

Got it working somehow, activating the 1.160 version in conjunction with the WES seems to work around my issue - Anyways, thanks for the help people!

Hello. I have the same problem. Need version 1.143 and 1.158, but I can't activate a version earlier than 1.160...

I just bought them and have not tried them except the first game. My question to you people is why do you need a key for the GOG version anyway? That would constitute DRM.

Is it for multi player?

Yes your serial keys are purely for multi-player - you won't even be prompted to enter it unless you join a server.

Some people might prefer the sandbox singleplayer game against the AI & mods - but I think multi-player is the games best strength.

Until the devs smarten up and add Perma-death modes. Everyone being able to die would make the game extremely difficult. Yet rewarding.

Would drastically change battles as well. No more lords and vassals etc going full speed ahead into 100 cavalry with nobody following them.

I think no perma-death ruins the games The kings always have hundreds of soldiers and the player character never will gain power. Nobody dies, thus the game just drags on endlessly without a "win factor".

I can't even count the times I've wanted to strangle my vassals for doing stupid crap while I lose an entire castle because the morons went off with 12 troops to chase friggin butterflies instead of guarding the locations I tell them to guard lol

Or giving 100 full trained soldiers to a vassal and 5 minutes later they come back with like...3 an 13% life points...I'm just like...DUDE WTF!!??? 0_0

If they implemented perma death modes...I think I'd have nobody to rule over, as I pitch a fit when the game does so much dumb stuff lol
