Ragnarblackmane: The Last Days of the Third Age LOTR mod, recently ported from MnB to Warband, so you might be able to find that one.
The normal version of The Last Days on Mod DB has various major issues (e.g. saves eventually corrupt, fights with warg units crash the game); the latest working version is available from Swyter's Bitbucket. Download and extract TLD 3.3, 3.3 wbcompat, then the latest nightly and finally the latest wbcompat nightly (each time replacing any existing files when prompted).
I've been wanting to get into brytenwalda since they announced the vikings dlc but holy crap there are so many factions and the general strategy of gameplay is so overwhelming even for someone coming from hundreds of hours of vanilla warband + mods

Tried TLDotTA and Brytenwalda a while back but couldn't get into either. Last days just had a (common problem) of boring early game and I didn't continue. Brytenwalda seemed the more complete and enjoyable, but then I drifted off. Mostly didn't come to terms with the adjusted gameplay mechanics and stuff.

Floris was neat. But didn't stand out enough from the main game.
1257 AD is a long time favourite and heartily seconded. Though even there, I feel it's not improved from older versions. Liked it best a couple of years ago. (actually liked it best as original M&B mod)

My personal favorite by a wide margin is Prophesy of Pendor.

A total conversion to a new land, a touch of fantasy added. Early game can be somewhat difficult, with totally overpowering hordes roaming the land. (The trick is to run away and not get into unwinnable fights).

EDIT: Also guys, make sure you check The Pioneer's Guild - Mods Under Construction board from time to time, plenty of promising projects there and some of them even have an open beta of some sort for you to try out, check this two out!

I think the GoG' should post some of the mod links on the games' pages so folks can easily find them. Like the OP and others have said, there are a lot of good mods out there people need to try. Plus with GoG picking up this series, the new players might give the modding community for this game a big boost.

I can't find it in the master list, so I'll post a link to where you can get the mod, if anyone's interested:

http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-last-days

(To install on Warband, you'll need to download the Warband compatibility patch along with the base mod)
Just a heads up on, Brytenwalda...

If you download be sure to get the 1.40 special edition then the 1,41 patch and then the graphics pack (if pc can handle it) and install in that order. Getting the full download from mod db that includes everything results in a weird bug that makes shields invisible.

I also recommend getting Brytenwalda Repolished, since it fixes a lot of left over bugs in 1.41 like pest control which is annoying from what I hear. Just get the update version, no need for for the entire Brytenwalda + Repolished fixes if you already have Brytenwalda 1.41 installed. If not then the full standalone is also available that includes everything you need in one download.

Silverstag is another mod to check out if you like role-playing and really managing your kingdom. It's still in open beta and updated constantly, so expect bugs. I just downloaded it but haven't had the time to test yet.

Floris I can't really recommend because I know it's not being updated anymore, and you may run into issues with using version 1.61 of Warband. I know a lot old mods it uses has issues so I assume those issues will be present in floris.

ACOK looks awesome, just downloaded it to test as well... constantly updated by the looks of it so should work well with 1.61 Warband.

Hope that helps some people...

Wait, you mean the Warband version is safe to play?
TLD is an amazing piece of work, but after sinking many hours in different versions of the mod and losing three characters to bugs and corrupt saves, I've lost all hope of ever finishing the game.

I'm up to day 500-something on the Warband version from Swyter's Bitbucket without the save corruption problem showing up. Crashes are also less common since this version fixes some of the causes (such as the game always crashing for battles that contain Isengard warg riders).

This is the first time I've played this version of the mod but it certainly looks like it can be successfully won. I've still been saving in multiple slots just in case but so far none of the saves has corrupted (whereas the normal 3.3 release started randomly corrupting after the first month or something).
Just a friendly reminder to everybody in case you missed, L'Aigle: Napoleonic Warfare Alpha 1.0 is out (1.1 Patch Released Not Long Ago)

Next patch should be released on the following days!

EDIT: Make sure to keep an eye on this three aswell.

1794: Kosciuszko Uprising

Crusader - Way to expiation

And

1429 : la Guerre de Cent Ans English translation not complete but it's playable, I'll try the spanish one it seems it is complete and let you know if it works ok.

I'm pretty new into modding stuff and recently just add Diplomacy mods for M&B Warband which is slightly improving on gameplay and also I'm willing to ask if there any M&B Romance of the Three Kingdoms mods? in my opinion RoTK is my personal best series for RPG, strategy, story and combat system but pretty simple compare to M&B gameplay which is more detail on game mechanic but lack for strategy (units control to siege the castle) and story. I think it would be greats mods for M&B with a better story like Game of Thrones/A Clash of Kings mods.

also thanks for making this thread Ragnarblackmane, cheers!
