Where are The Belltower, The Temple and The Graveyard?
I've played DOS version tons of time back then and I know they are. The temple was even in MK3 DEMO.

Perhaps those backgrounds were removed by the publisher due some reason that I don't know? It's quite odd, but I love those 3 backgrounds! Thanks in advance for any data about it.

I haven't played in a while, but I'm almost certain that these stages are still there.
My guess is that you are probably using uppercut in the Soul Chamber which alters stage rotation.

you're right! I've just played at the Belltower. Seems like back in my childhood I've spent more time either trying fatalities or battle with combos.. or just playing more time! I've never notice that forcing change backgrounds with an uppercut affects the rotation backwards. I thought it would force it forward.
