My controller in mk1 keeps ducking my fighter non stop and idk how to fix it please help

I see the same issue on Linux, using the game data with my system-provided DOSBox.
I did not try the GOG-provided DOSBox build.
I am using a XBox 360 controller.
What we are seeing might be the issue already reported here: Gamepad problems d-pad moving by itself with Mortal Kombat 1.
