Anyone played it? Can heartily recommend. It's a pure love letter to Monkey Island from the developers of Sea of Thieves, who used and abused their game engine to make the closest thing to a point & click experience they could.
It has some cons, as a P&C adventure naturally doesn't translate all that well into a game like this and the checkpoints system can be a little iffy, but for me it was a real palate cleanser after the disappointment of Return to Monkey Island's fixation with subverted expectations. It's so true to the spirit of the series, its humor and quirkiness, it can but bring a smile to your face. And you can feel that it was a true labor of love from the part of the developers, as by and large their game's audience isn't even really into the game mode that you play the Monkey Island chapters in.
Even if you happened to enjoy Return, I'd still very much recommend you give this a go. It's far from a perfect gaming experience, as traipsing all over Mêlée and Monkey Island can drag on a bit at times, and the humor can never really be the same without Grossman and Schafer. But it's the first and probably last true 3D foray into the world of Monkey Island we'll ever have, and allows you to enjoy and explore it in a way you never could. And it gives us more Murray. You can never have enough Murray, really.
So, if you've got some six hours and twenty euros to spend, go make good use of Black Friday Sale and dive deep into the Caribbean once again.
