Warning: spoilers from Monkey Island 2!
Let's talk about a voodoo doll. Not the one Guybrush makes to end Largo's reign of power, or the one he needs to improvise near the end to defeat LeChuck. There is a third voodoo doll in the game: the one that LeChuck's orders his voodoo priest to make... to use against Guybrush! We never see the voodoo priest again, but we know he succeeded with this task when LeChuck uses the doll at the Dinky tunnels.
During my latest playthrough I noticed that in Part 2, while Guybrush is collecting the four pieces of the map to the Big Whoop treasure, he carelessly leaves along the way some juicy items that can be used against him: they are the ingredients needed to make a voodoo doll!
We all know the shopping list from the Voodoo Lady: something of the Thread, something of the Head, something of the Body, and something of the Dead. Have you ever though about what ingredients the voodoo priest used to make Guybrush's doll? Some are more or less obvious, others require us to get a little creative...
My bet:
Something of the Thread: after his encounter with Elaine at the Governor Mansion in Booty Island, Guybrush takes his pink costume off as soon as possible and abandons it between the bushes.
Something of the Head: this one was the hardest for me to come up with. In the end, I settled for the tree house in Booty Island. The first time Guybruh tries to go up the tree, the roar he's using as a stair breaks and he falls, hitting his head so badly he falls unconscious. I've seen enough crime shows to suspect that there would be some residue of the accident left, a mix of hair and blood. This blood, as a bodily fluid, could be used to fill the next category, but there is an even better candidate...
Something of the Body: Guybrush wins the spitting contest after (unless you know beforehand what to do) many spits. If that wasn't bad enough, there is a commemorative plate with his spit AND his name... which Guybrush happily sells to the antique shop keeper at Ville de la Booty. I can't imagine the voodoo priest had much trouble taking this off his hands.
Someting of the Dead: Guybrush's parents' skeletons are literally at the Dinky tunnels... Or so it seems: it's not clear how much of it was part of the spell. But anyway, assuming LeChuck borrowed some bone is the most simple explanation tor "something of the Dead".
