Hi,

I have been trying to build a talkie version of The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition using the GOG.COM version, which I have installed in C:\GOG games\Monkey Island 1 SE.

The Monkey1.pak is not found in the game installation folder, so the talkie version cannot be built.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

I have attached a picture of what the folder should look like after installation, so you can compare it with yours. "Monkey1.pak" is a 1.15 GB file.

If you don't have the pak file in your folder, try the usual suspects: unstall and install again, run the installer as an admin, check that you don't have accidentally hidden some files or that you can't see file extensions in Windows.

Note that the "MI1_Ultimate_Talkie_Edition_Builder" will not come with the GOG installation; that's the one you need to copy in order to build the talkie edition.

Hi,

I have checked the following:

Uninstalled and then reinstalled the game using 'Run as Administrator' option.
I have not hidden any files.
I have searched for the Monkey1.pak using the search box and it cannot be found.

Any other advice would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

Are you using Galaxy to install the game or have you downloaded the offline installer?

Could you post a screenshot of all the files in your Monkey Island installation folder, like I did in post #2?

Hi,

I installed The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition using the offline installer.

I have looked at http://gratissaugen.de/ultimatetalkies/index.html to build the talkie edition and have downloaded the files and placed them in the game installation folder.

I have attached a screenshot of how my game installation folder looks.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

Hi. That doesn't look like the actual installation folder (it should have the files and subfolders like the one I posted). Those are not the .exe files, but shortcuts to the executables. Right-click on one of those shortcuts and select Properties to see the complete route to the file, then look for that folder and open it. The Monkey1.pak file should be there.

Hi,

I have checked and the Monkey1.pak file is in the actual installation folder.

I have attached a screenshot showing this.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for your help.
