I had never played Mobile Forces before I bought it off GOG. The game seemed interesting and I decided to buy it - and I'm not disappointed!
Mobile Forces is pretty much your average online shooter, with a few minor twists. First, the vehicles: There are a few different ones, all varying in speed and durability. They are a bit too durable for my taste: Your average jeep can take two hits from a rocket launcher, and the bulkiest tank takes a whopping four... this is especially annoying in CTF, when enemies escaping with your flag are basically invincible. But they're still a nice touch and the maps are quite big, so traversing them by foot would be too slow.
The second thing that makes Mobile Forces stand out is the inventory system, which I like very much. You have six inventory slots, and different weapons and items take up different amounts of slots. Every time you respawn, you get the menu to choose your equipment. You could, for example, take a rocket launcher and an assault rifle . Or a shotgun, a sniper rifle and some laser tripwire bombs. Or a pistol and a deployable minigun. There are many different combinations to choose from, but only 10 items in total. More would've been nicer, but everything essential is in there.
If you like online shooters, you'll definitely like mobile forces. Well worth the six bucks.
