Just started playing MM4-5 Word of Xeen. I'm trying to leave Vertigo, and at the city gates I need to type in a password. It tells me to refer to a page number, line, and word number. I keep looking in the downloaded manual that came with the game, but somehow I keep typing in the incorrect word. It's driving me crazy. Has anyone else had this problem, or am I doing something wrong?

There should be another PDF file (separate from the game manuals) installed with the games that includes all the copy protection codes for MM3-5. I think there's a shortcut to it in the start menu folder for the Might & Magic games. If it's not there, look around in the directory where you installed the game.
EDIT:
Looks like you found the solution in another thread.

Or you can go type rivercity in the mirror of vertigo, and you're gonna be in rivercity town near vertigo, but be carfeul there is monster !!! ( or you can type mine 1 ) to go in the mine just near vertigo too.
No need !! lol ... i'm a big fan of the game ! i've finished that game so many times !!
and the fist time i used to play with, it was on a 486 SX 25 mhz and the game was on flopy disk ! ^^ . ( yes i know i'm old ! )
I had the exact same issue, regardless of how I counted the pages or which manual I tried to use (Swords of Xeen vs regular). The only fix I came up with was to use the mirror to teleport to another town I remembered the name of (Asp), then left that town and used the pyramid to go to the dark side. After that I was able to leave Vertigo again... I'm just concerned I'll run into the problem again. I guess Lloyd's Beacon would also work?

You do not need to count manual pages. There is another PDF in the game folder (named mm3-5 keys.pdf, or something like that) which has all the keywords listed.

EDIT: correct filename is keys_3_5.pdf

BreathingMeat: ^^^ = Solution
Actually, it's in the second post by Mentalepsy.
But surely it got lost in this 'oh so long' thread :)
Whatever I do it's asking me either for lines that don't exist or it's incorrect so I can't get passed the copy protection unless I, I think use the portal.

Anyone have help regarding this issue?

Nevermind. Had to scroll down the PDF to find the right game, LOL :P

This fix is no longer valid, the password reference card does not appear on my GOG account under the extras.
I had to find it by using GOG galaxy: click on the game > click on more > click on other > click password reference card.
This is laborious and unnecessary.
Why doesn't this reference card appear in the extras or why hasn't the password been removed from the game such as Lands of Lore?

check the location the game is installed to for keys_3_5.pdf thats the file you want,
you can make a shortcut to it for easy access

I have the keyword doc posted @
http://games.playazlounge.net/xeen_docs/Keywords.pdf
I can confirm that both the above are working for me.
