One of the things I always do on a playthrough of Might and Magic VII is take a trip into the Emerald Island cave with a few to claim a great prize: A lot of experience points.
Taking out the Emerald Island dragon is a great way to bump yourself up a few levels, and is actually a lot easier than it seems.
The easiest way to take down the dragon is this:
Lead the Dragonflies into the town, have them kill the man who offers you a gift in exchange for a "favour" (there are too many drawbacks to this favour later in the game if you accept). Pick up his body. You'll find a few gold coins and the Wand of Fireballs. You can accept his offer, of course, but there's a few consequences that could make your game much harder (won't spoil it).
Complete the Scavenger Hunt after finding both Longbows on the island. It's a good idea not to hand the Longbow in, since it does more damage.
Teach your Body Magic caster the 'Harm' spell. Make sure your entire party has a bow, including the two longbows (I had two longbows and two crude bows). Also stock up on blue potions, Harm takes a lot of mana out of you.
Give your wand to one of your non-magic casters (if you'd like to save money by not identifying the wand, it's a Wand of Fireballs with 28 charges). I gave it to my Thief. Make sure they have a bow, too. Now stand outside the dragon cave and save the game. Cast Torch Light and Wizard Eye and enter. Make sure you have Fire Bolt as a set spell as well as Harm.
Do not turn on turn based mode!! You will die instantly if you do. Instead, launch your first few attacks while the dragon is distracted by the rats and keep moving. Do not stop circling the cave. Wait until you hear one of the fire blasts go by and then incline towards him slightly and tap your S key. You should hit him with an Arrow, a Fireball, Harm and Fire Bolt. Keep running, keep listening, keep inclining and keep firing. Be careful of the slight mount in the cave, you will miss a lot of shots because of that.
Eventually, the great beast will fall. It will take quite a long time, though. Try to succeed with all of your party intact, if one guy dies, they won't get any experience points.
When the fucker falls over, pick up his body to find a couple hundred gold coins and a random item. On my last play, I got a pretty poor loot, 800 gold and a Ruby which only sold for 44 gold, but I've had better, such as 2000 gold and a very nice sword. Go and train and then cash in on your spoils.
Yep.
