I went to my START menu on my desktop, and clicked on the appropriate "Might and Magic VI" button on that menu. My screen goes black for a moment and the game loads, and I can hear the introduction play, but my screen goes back to my desktop. I tried clicking on the game icon on the taskbar at the bottom of my screen, but my screen goes black for a moment (again), but like before it goes back to my desktop. Can someone please help me get this game running?

What operating system are you using? I had the same issue with a lengthy load time on windows 10 64. It did finally load, but it took a couple of minutes.

I am using Windows 10 64-bit. I have tried to load Might and Magic VI, and I can heard the intro but I see a black screen.

How long did you let it go? I could also hear the intro music but it took a couple of minutes to actually load in.

I think it had to do with an update to Windows 10. Once it loads the first time then it loads like normal.

If I remember right the first time you play MM6 you can't skip the intro unless you have a save file.

I always find whenever I redownload MM6 even though the gog version apparently has it I need to install the grayface patch for it to work. The patch can be found in a sticky post at the top of the might and magic forum.
