Having said that, I am having a terrible time with this game, Might and Magic 7.

It takes forever simple to load it, and there is a problem with a screen glitch when it does.


Cannot find a "play as administratoi" option. Can't set up a desktop icon. Can't find any configuation option. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it more times than I care to count.

Everyone links to some patch, but I have downloaded it, many times, and it NEVER does ANYTHING.

If someone would be so kind as to dumb it down as dumb as they could, give a detailed instruction (or maybe a link) on how in the world this game is supposed to be played, I would be very, very grateful, because now, it's become so frustrating it's maddening.

you need to also install the patch not only download it, I don't remember exactly if you install it just by clicking it or you actually need to link it to your game files. if its the second option the only real way someone can help you is through team viewer or discord screen share.

That's kind of the problem, simply hitting the "Install" command never does anything.

do you have discord? its a messaging / calling website that also lets you show others your screen. if you feel like it you can share your info on that or make an account on it and I can probably clear this thing up for you. don't think we'll be able to help you through the forum though.

Actually, I've been kicked out of numerous online game groups trying to get them to explain how discord works too.

Maedar22, I'm guessing that you went to your Games shelf here, selected MM7, then clicked on the big blue box where it says, "Download and Install". If I'm right, you are running under GoG Galaxy. Which makes it awkward to apply some of the other answers you've had.

GrayFace patch is a fan-made patch, not an official one from the game developers. From what I read here, GoG Galaxy is fan-patch-hostile. It and Windows conspire to keep games "uncontaminated".

I've played MM7 myself, but from a retail CD. I've played other games from GoG, including MM6, but have avoided Galaxy like the plague, so while I'd like to help you, I may not know enough. But lets see.

What are you trying to play the game on? A Windows PC desktop? laptop? an Apple Mac? Obviously you have a screen, but is it built-in, a plugged-in monitor, or a connection to a regular TV set? Speakers included or separate? Headphones?
Obviously also you have internet, wired or wifi, but what else (if anything) do you have plugged in?

Imagine your system to be completely powered off. When you power it up, what do you see? When you try to start MM7, what icons (little pictures) do you click on and what menus do you select from (if any)?

I mean that, so many problems could have been solved had someone simply told me that the GreyFace patch does not work on the GOG version of the game.

My fault for going to the GOG forums (sarcasm there) but like I said, I'm not all too computer savvy.

Guessing the only true way to avoid this problem is to avoid using the Alt-Enter at all. Going to be difficult, but I can get used to it
