The Store-page of the game says, that it is running under windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10). Last time, I tried it, however, I douldn'T rrealy play it under windows 8 and later. It had some graphical problems and hanging-issues. Are these solved, now? I have the game, but before I install it, I would appreciate a confirmation, that it runs under win 10 without much issues.

And last time I fewed the store-page of the game, windows 10 wasn't listed as a compatible OS. (only xp-win 7.)

Hm. nevemind. Found a note in the changlog-post, that windows 10 support was added.

BUT: I none the less would appreciate reputation, how good it runs?

Edit: it seems, it doesn't run. If I start the game, there happens.... nothing. (the start-button is greyed out, and after several seconds available again, without any start-screen...)

Should I do something special, to get the game running?

I started the settings-launcher, but didn't find any options, which I think will start the game.

I didn't make a desktop shortcut, because I prefer to start games from galaxy directly.) I only need the starting-file for the game to make one myself. (then I can start it with admin-rights or even try to run the compatibiltiy-program of windows.)

sorry for bumbing and making it fat again, but does anybody has any tips, how to start the game in windows 10 64bit?

I realy want to try it again. I played it a while, when it came out. It's a new experience, compared to older M&M. But WHEN it runs, it runs somewhat better. Example: the round-mode of the combat does aktually work correctly (enough time to walk strategically) It's not a great issue, but in M&M VI-VIII the game is so fast, that you actually can only make one step, insteadt of the counting 5. in M&M IX you can make all 5, since the game is slow enough.

I would realy like to try the game again.

this topic should help you out, I can tell you that the game runs perfectly for me on windows 10 but I can also tell you that it was no small task to get it to run perfectly.

Perhaps I will try the mentioned fixes. But: The mentioned files all seem to fix ingame-issues. So how do I even get the game started?
None the less, thanks for the info.
try running it as admin and in compatibility mode, you might be on windows 10 but you can still run it as xp or win 7
The game was updated to run under windows 10 via configurable wrapper. If you are up to date to the last version it should be ready.
Now It runs smoothly under windows 10 out of the box, you can configure it to run at desktop res, vsync, filters etc...

In the present state of the game I guess compatibility modes are not needed because of the wrapper. It could make things slower.
I'm not sure what to say about this. Yes, the game (now) runs (better) on Windows 10 (than before), but I have an old Win XP machine with the game installed on which the game is considerably more stable.
One of the most recent problems I've encountered on Win 10 is jerky mouse movement after a while of playing. And no, it's not the mouse that is the problem, because I use the same mouse on the Win XP machine where this is not an issue.
Just now I ran into a problem where I could open doors in Anskram Keep, but not go through them before I had tried several times (holding down w didn't help, it was as if my party had run into an invisible wall). This problem eventually fixed itself somehow, but this is something I've never experienced while playing the game on the Win XP machine.
I've also had big problems just running the game on Win 10 by using the GOG galaxy launcher - manually installing the downloaded installation file has proven to be more reliable.
The game seems to prefer the onboard intel GPU (laptop, yes), but unlike before I can force it to use the Nvidia chip instead. This is a must, since the dreaded black screen under water and at night still is a problem when using the intel GPU.
Should I fire up the game before everything has started on my computer (meaning that another program suddenly interrupts the game when starting) or try alt-tabbing, I run a big risk of getting CTD.
I will try to see if I can finish the game on Win 10, but all my (3) playthrouhgs of this game have been on an old Clevo with Nvidia 8600M running Win XP, and I wouldn't be surprised if I have to resort to that once again.

Try installing it through GOG Galaxy. Runs fine on my Windows 10 x64 machine with modern video card and lots of RAM without any noticeable problems. Before it actually was problematic. Last time I played this game on XP machine with low-end video card from 2007. Nothing newer would work normally.
I have finished one playthrough now on the Windows 10 machine, and though it is playable, the game struggles greatly with that OS. Random crashes, graphical glitches (environment disappearing when I go through a door, which often results in my party falling to their deaths), jittery mouse after a while of playing, other weird behavior... OK, the game is playable, but
1) keep as many saves as you are allowed - and save OFTEN (not just quick save)
2) when graphical glitches start occurring, save and exit. Note that you may be required to reboot your computer, if the game stops answering while shutting down (which happens quite often for me)
3) loot corpses ASAP once you've finished them - chances are the remains bags will disappear otherwise
4) make sure that once your inventory starts getting full you don't lose any equipment that you need change. I've lost at least one ring of health because of this
5) it is impossible (at least for me) to use alt-tab in this game on Win 10, which prevents the use of the MM9 trainer (which requires to be run while the game is running) and also can crash the game if I start the game too early after rebooting (see #1) and services like antivirus software interrupt the game. This also makes it impossible to set affinity for processors.

All these problems I've never run into on the Win XP machine.

A save game editor that still works is https://www.trainerscity.com/en/pc/2123-Might-&-Magic-IX-Save-Game-Editor, which unfortunately cannot edit skills (but it can edit gold and xp and promotions, if you have messed any of those up).

EDIT 23.07.20: Actually it seems that most of the graphical problems and instability might be caused by Nvidia. I had tried to boost all graphic settings to max to get the best experience, but when I last tried reinstalling the game (for the 4th or 5th time in about 2 weeks) I simply let the wrapper by GOG handle the graphics; the only thing I did with Nvidia was to force the game to use the Nvidia GPU. After that it seems that I am able both to alt-tab normally and the dreaded "where did the room I just entered go??" falling bug for now is restricted to the Book of Rules quest dungeon final room only.
Setting the game to use only processor core 0 has had ENORMOUS impact for the stabilty in my game, at least. So it is quite crucial that alt-tab works for this game, it seems.

The game doesn't launch on my Windows 10 system. I can see a small window with the lithtech title and then it closes back to the desktop.
