Hi,
I recently finished Might and Magic VII and VIII, and since I’m still hooked on the series, I’d like to keep going. During the years, I’ve completed all the games except for Might and Magic I, II, Swords of Xeen, and IX. I’m thinking about starting MM9 next, but I wanted to ask: is the game still extremely buggy, or has it been improved over the years? I can deal with the occasional bug or graphical glitch, but I’d like to know if the game is playable or if it’s still considered broken.
Thanks,
Ondrej

if you're willing to fix all the issues and patch the game n shit its actually a pretty good time, you'll most likely be in for doing some fixing tho
I followed the suggestions for it on pcgamingwiki and it worked quite well.

Ditto. Especially the fix for the load screen freeze. It's still a good idea to save allot and often.
Thank you so much! It seems that even this GOG version of the game still needs additional patches, but I think I'll give it a try anyway.
Strangely enough, it ran perfectly on my Win10 without doing anything to it !?

Am I correct in understanding that most of the issues are technical errors, such as crashes, frozen screens, and broken save slots? Or are there also problems with game mechanics, like unfinishable quests? For me, the latter would be a more significant issue than the former.
I know of one potential softlock. At some point in the main plot you'll be asked to attend a meeting the next day. Be absolutely sure to arrive on time. If you miss it, the main plot is broken.

There is one minor sidequest near the end of the game that doesn't officially complete after you've finished it. I've read later that it works only if you do the quest before ever speaking to the questgiver.

Mechanically, there are a few spells that don't work and couldn't be fixed. The patch modified their descriptions to warn you of this.
