Thanks for the sugggestions. I always play old games without sound while listening to podcasts or audiobooks.

Nowadays I started to play with this great game (I lost 30 hours in it already) and I experienced a similar issue described here. Replacing the audio.dll with this github.com/Vhalun/MightAndMagic7.git solved my issue.
