I am having a problem with MM6. The game will play fine as long as I am in a particular area, but when it transitions to a new zone it stops responding and crashes. I notice this is usually in relation to the game not saving my game when I try to save my progress. I have set my compatibility to XP Service pack 3 w/ Admin rights.

As an experiment when I noticed the game wasn't saving, while I was still in the game, I could reload a previous save and this would fix the glitch of the game not saving. Has anyone else ran into this?

Try patching the game with the GrayFace patch. It might help, since one of the change is this:

[-] Save game failure on some computers. Actually caused by a bug of some system software, not the game itself.

As in the other thread. If it's a saving issue, ty this:

I've determined the error to be McAfee. I need to inactivate the Real-Scan Time for the game to function properly. It still locks up on rare occasion, but its much more playable. Hope this helps anyone else with a similiar issue.

McAfee has been a pain for me when I play MM7. The part that confuses me is that I didn't have any issues until I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I even installed GrayFace with the same file that I downloaded years ago and never had troubles before. So now I have to shut off the Real-Scan Time or McAfee will shut the game down and quarantine a grayface file.

I have also found that there is a problem with the McAfee real time scanning; it does not like Might and Magic games.

Over a year ago I was playing Might and Magic 6,7,8 on a windows 7 pc with no problems.

Then all the games started to fail, they would not save games files, or would crash when entering a new dungeon.

Disabling the McAfee real time scanning before running the game fixed this problem on windows 7.

I now have a new windows 10 computer, and I get exactly the same problem, I have to disable the real time scanning before running the game.
