I have 6 through 9 on CD's (the "Platinum" set) and have played them through several times each. But when they all went on sale a few weeks ago, I got the GOG versions. (Just because it is a PIA to install them in newer Windows versions when I get a new computer.)
Now I am playing MM6. At first I only noticed one minor difference… I used to find the occasional (low-level) ring in a cook-pot. But I never find them in this one. But now… None of the “Dungeons” respawn. The outside “monsters” around New Sorpigal and Bootleg Bay do, but that is all.
I know that they all had different respawn rates.
For instance outside New Sorpigal takes 6 months after killing the last monster, and the inside ones used to take a year, but it has been over 2 years now and nothing is back. I can live without having to re kill low level opponents, but I miss have the barrels and treasure respawn.
Are these differences on purpose, or is there just a glitch in the GOG version? And do the other GOG versions (7-9) have the same lack of respawning?
