I have the CD Version of MM6, and I was considering getting the 1-6 Pack, since its very cheap and I'd like to play 4 and 5 as well.

For anyone who's played both versions of 6, is the Gog version just as good? The CD version is a bit annoying since you have to leave in the Play CD for the CD audio (even if you get a crack, at the least you need to mount a ripped version of the CD with an emulator). But is the music in the Gog version as good as the CD audio version?

Both use .MP3s for the audio, so there really should be little to no difference in terms of audio music quality.

I have the special edition of MM6 - comes with a neat hologram on the disk, and have noticed no difference in either version.
I still have the disks and the mini cluebook that came with it. Those were the days when even a regular version of a game came with more than just a disk. The retail boxes back then were also large; usually the size of a small cereal box.
Forgive me for getting off topic. but I'm waxing sentimental! I remember buying MM4 & 5 as separate games when they first came out and they had about 10 disks each. I also had the strategy guide and in it the creator of the series mentioned how games on CD-Rom were going to be the next big thing. True, but he also said it would cause the cost to the consumer to go down, making games cheaper. He said it was much cheaper to produce CD-Roms than disks. I haven't noticed any games going down in price. Anyway, the whole series is pretty good, my favorites are 4-8. 9 is not really good, though.

GoG version is better. It has many bugs fixed, even those, which were introduced by additional patches (Shadow in Frozen Highlands bug comes to mind). Yes, it is in mp3 of high quality (320 kbps).

No, the Gog version is much smaller in size, which is what originally worried me. I realized the difference is that the original uses CD Audio and the Gog version uses mp3s. It looks like the quality is the same and the versions play the same though, based on the comments here. Given that, DRM free makes it a lot more convenient so the Gog version should win.
