In Might and Magic 2, it is actually possible to get any character, even those in non-spellcasting classes (like Knight and Robber), to use magic. Here is how:
1. In one of the castle dungeons, there is a place where you can pay to learn all spells. Do so with the character in question in your party.
2. Raise the character's SP and SL to non-zero values using fountains. (Shaman Pipes can also raise SL when used.)
3. Get into a battle, and you will find that the character can now cast spells during battle.
Note that any class that does not normally get spells will get Cleric spells. (This can actually be useful when fighting the Mega Dragon, as that means you can cast Mass Distortion.) Low level Archers still use Sorcerer spells if this method is used.
Remember that SL will go back to normal after every fight, so you will need to keep increasing it if you want to keep using spells.
