So, today I saved King Kalohn, and I'm ready to enter Square Lake to face off with Sheltam. But I'm trying to 100% this game, which to me means beating every single fixed encounter, and fully exploring every map.
There are only three maps I have not fully explored yet:
Dungeon Woodhaven Level 2 (I'm excusing myself from mapping this - it seems the only way to get anywhere I haven't been yet is to randomly teleport there, and the only things in those places are more teleporters anyway)
Dragon's Domain
Square Lake
And there are four fixed encounters I haven't been able to beat yet:
C4 - Cat From Hell
Dragon's Domain - Ancient Dragon
Square Lake - Devil Kings
C2 9th century - Mega Dragon (I might excuse myself from this one too)
First question, which of these is the easiest, and therefore I should aim for first.
Second question, how? What do I need more of? My party looks like this:
http://textsnip.com/12d736
Do I need more stats? Better equipment? More enchantments on the current equipment (I can squeeze up to +14 with my current SP)? Simply more experience levels?

I know RPGenie's YouTube video explains how to beat the Megadragon, but I don't know if it will help with the other fixed encounters.
*sees trick in MM2 192 video at the 7:30 mark*
Mind=blown
RPGenie has way more HP than me, and way more of something else as well. When I challenge the Mega Dragon, he breathes energy right off the bat, dealing 32,000 damage to everyone in the front.
But I put my Cleric in the back so she can cast Moon Ray, bringing everyone back. Then my Paladin frenzies himself, and my Archer Disintegrates. I win!
The Cat From Hell goes down this way too. Afterwards my Cleric casts Holy Word to deal with the Cat Corpses.
The Ancient Dragon was a bit trickier, but I managed. Again, it breathed energy, downing everyone but my Cleric with 2500 of damage. Cleric cannot cast Moon Ray, so she casts Power Cure on the Paladin, who frenzies himself. Ancient Dragon breathes energy again, killing everyone but the Cleric with 2500 damage. Cleric casts Raise Dead on Sorcerer, who then casts Disintegrate. I win again, and get +1000 HP!
I still need help dealing with the Devil Kings, though.
I've skipped the Devil Kings for now - when I reach the room with Sheltem, the text says:
Version 1.01
Version 1.01
Version 1.01
Version 1.01
Is that a bug, or is that supposed to happen?
One other thing. Is there any way into the center region of the Dragon's Domain? Teleport and etherealize don't work, and all of the walls seem to be solid. See the attached image.

Yup you can skip the Devil Kings I did that, also after you fight against Sheltem you need to continue a bit more (look around) to reach the end. Just a quickly-spoiler-free tip if you need time at the end I believe that the scroll lock or pause will freeze the game giving you sometime to think.
Also about the Dragon Domain, yes that area is not acessible, I read in a faq that someone manage to got there, but there was anything there.
Now about your party there is two thing that can help:
1) Visit the Circus at day 140, make sure to bring cupie dolls to the shaman near the desert and visit the place which he points (in the middle of the desert) go there (mark the place) and go to any of the circus game. Repeat as necessary to gain several stat boost (also unequip everything which increase stats, even skills).
2) At 40 you might try some visits the Cuisinarts, they are at the same mountain which you find the Myst Warrior, but watch out for their frenzy.
When i was revisiting this game 10 years ago, I developed a tactic to defeat the ancient dragons very quickly and easily.
First, we need every member of the party to have at least 100+ speed. The circus is the best way of getting these stats. I shan't go into detail about how to use the circus to gain stats because I believe many others have already done so. If you would like further help on this issue, send me a PM :)
Next, we need gold items. If I remember correctly, G Plate Mail and/or Gold Helms would do nicely. They can be found in the Dragon Dominion (without having to encounter the Ancient Dragon). Using these items will temporarily increase your level. Increase the level of your fighting chars to 200+ using the Gold the items (as in the "use" function, do not just equip them). Do this before you find the Ancient Dragon and it should go down lickety split. Don't forget to search after kicking it's butt! :)
One last thing. I don't know whether these new patches have changed this problem, but when I used to play MM2, i noticed a disturbing bug that could ruin your game. Whenever the value of your level or any other stat hits 255, the system hangs. Although I've seen many people in the forums saying that they have managed to break hit 255 without any problems, such sadly was never the case for me. Having said that, this might also be a problem for you. If such, just keep your level at 240+ and you should be fine.
Hope this helps. Send me a PM if you find anything confusing and I'll try to provide a more detailed explanation :)

The 255 thing would be due to it being an 8-bit game and such, 255 is the maximum 1 byte of data can represent.
Also, pretty sure you can't PM people on this forum.

This is a little late for replying (I was just visiting the forums and saw this). You should definitely beat the Ancient Dragon in Dragon's Domain b/c you'll need what's behind him for Square Lake.

Whenever you are going to have one major battle, I'd recommend going to the desert. If you follow the mountain on the north, you won't have any battles.

Look for trees that look like

__X__
X___ X
__ X __

X= Tree
_ = desert

Inside those trees a fountain that will raise all of your stats to 255 for one battle.

If you map out Dragon's Domain, you can make the right jumps (using your 2nd level jump spell - Teleport won't work) to get to the Ancient Dragon w/o any battles (so you can have 255 for your stats). He'll kill your guys bad, but just one at a time. Keep healing them with first aid (get 8 hp for each of them). That will give your cleric plenty of time heal. You may want to take the high level cleric hireling (you find him in Atlantium, I believe).

Once you kill him, go the bottom left route and you'll find a fire-alarm like device. Break the glass and all of your characters get +1000 hit points. You'll definitely need those hit points for defeating your other tasks.

I'd start there and then try killing some other things.

To kill the Mega Dragon, King Kalohn has to do that. You'll need all of the elemental talons and orbs to do that.

Well, that's how you're SUPPOSED to do it, but as others pointed out in this thread, it's actually possible to face the Mega Dragon without the talons and win. It's kind of an exploit and doesn't really get you anything though.
