It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Thanks!
I am so excited, going to try and get this working today. I've had this game for years now and a couple times a year try to get it working but the underwater bug always hits me. Thank you for putting this in one place, it should be a sticky.
Yeah this got it working and I can see underwater but anybody else having the problem where you can't use your mouse on the bottom right half of the screen. I can't use the merchants because of this?

I uploaded it at the time, but didn't really know what I was doing. I would strongly suggest just going to the Youtube video mentioned above, and then go to the PC Gaming Wiki site for No One Lives Forever to get the correct files you need to fix the black screen issue. It wasn't an installer or anything, it was just a collection of everything you needed listed in this thread in one zip folder.
Awesome. I would like to point out the game without proper patching displayed the very same symptoms in Windows 7 pro. Thank you for putting this information up and thanks to the original authors for these fixes.
Hi all. Does anyone know if the NOLF underwater fix still works? It's an installer now, rather than a .dll file.
How do i dismiss a member of the party?
Forad Darra for example.
Unfortunately I cant even get the game to run after purchasing it. I was hoping this thread would have the solutions I needed, but as the game is already patched to 1.3a, I can't seem to find anything else to correct my issues. On Windows 10, the game will not even start. I get a tiny black window after launching the application, which quickly disappears, and then nothing happens.

I understand that GOG is just selling the game as it was originally published, but a shame for the customer who spends the money unknowingly and then just can't access the game at all.

If anyone is familiar with a fix for this, I would be happy to hop in a discord call/PM for assistance.

Your headset might be the issue. Look at the solution at the end of this thread:
https://www.gog.com/forum/might_and_magic_series/mm9_doesnt_start_under_windows_10

If this is the case, you need to disconnect the headset physically (disabling it in control panel is nnot enough).
This fix is not my idea, but it worked for me and I hope it works for you too.

The game is not sold as originally published, it has the unnoficial TELP patch bundled and it runs under a configurable dx1-8 wrapper to make it more compatible with modern systems. You can even up the resolution from the original vanilla 800x600.

Unfortunately NONE of those files exist anymore on Zippyshare etc.

Your comprehensive Fix pack was the last hope, and now that's gone as well.
Wanted to necro this post as it is found pretty high up on google searches to provide a link to the wiki here that I updated a few years ago with several fixes it was missing, notably the ones for the game freezing when entering your inventory, freezing on the loading screen, and black/night water. I hope it helps out anyone that stumbles on this post

https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Might_and_Magic_IX

Here are direct links to the files in case you hate link hopping or the wiki ever goes down (you can try using the wayback machine https://archive.org if any of these links go down)

Menu freeze fix:
https://dropbox.com/s/ee28lncubevktqv/Cshell.dll%20file.rar?dl=0 (courtesy of strategy house)
• or alternative download https://chlala.dk/mightandmagic/Mok/cshell.dll (courtesy of TELP)
• File goes into the data folder

Loading screen freeze fix (removes loading screen backgrounds/animations):
https://dropbox.com/s/wfnmuyjhad5wrv1/.REZ%20files.rar?dl=0 (courtesy of strategy house)
• or fix it yourself following this https://celestialheavens.com/forum/topic/13052
• Files go into the data folder

Game running too fast:
• run dxcfg.exe and set presentation to windowed then set display mode to same as desktop so it will run in borderless fullscreen
• If that doesn't work, try disabling vsync
• another potential solution is to set "maxfps" "35" inside autoexec.cfg (default is 0 if wanting to revert changes)
• as a last resort, try changing your monitor's hz to 60

Black night/water fix:
https://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/ (make a backup of ddraw, dll then move dgVoodoo.conf, dgVoodooCpl.exe and everything under MS\x86 to the same folder as lithtech.exe)
• or as an alternative you can try https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper/releases (make a backup of ddraw.dll then move dxwrapper.dll, dxwrapper.ini and ddraw.dll to the same folder as lithtech.exe then change dxwrapper.ini so that DDrawCompat and EnableDdrawWrapper = 1)
• If it's still not working, you may have to rename lithtech.exe to something else like lithtech2.exe so that gog's dxcfg changes aren't applied

Mouse jittering/stuttering:
• download https://github.com/elishacloud/dinputto8/ and put dinput.dll inside the same folder as lithtech.exe then set "InputRate" "60" inside autoexec.cfg (dinputto8 can also fix a potential crash on startup if using a wireless headset).
• if dinput.dll doesn't work, you can try my old fixes that were on the wiki which was setting your maxFPS to 75 in autoexec.cfg (probably won't do anything, but someone said this worked in a TELP forum) or just set your polling rate to 125hz using Logitech's, Razer's, or whatever software your mouse has. If your mouse doesn't have software to do this you can use this to check your polling rate https://softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Mouse-Rate-Checker.shtml and then set it using this https://github.com/LordOfMice/hidusbf

Fullscreen fixes (for windows 8 and later):
https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/6-might-and-magic-ix-fullscreen-fixes
• or do it yourself with the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/archive/blogs/yongrhee/download-windows-10-assessment-and-deployment-kit-adk) launch Compatibility Administrator then set ForceSimpleWindow and DXPrimaryEmulation -DisableMaxWindowedMode

Enable environment audio (EAX):
• Download dsoal http://vaporeon.io/hosted/dsoal-builds/
• Files go in same folder as lithtech, exe

Can't click other party members when creating a party:
• Use the 1-4 keys to select party members

Crashing when entering area
• Go into the minisaves folder and delete the files for the problematic area (these files store the state of area's you've visited like the last time monsters were spawned and NPCs that have turned hostile)
