anyone tried the mm 6-8 merged mod greyface released? is it worth playing?
I gave it a try and I found it fun and worth it.

I started in MM8, but I would assume you could start in any of them. My choice was based on not knowing if the game had armsmaster trainers in MM6. Still can't answer that.

I ended up using dragons and therefore didn't complete the game, as it gets boring fast. Don't use them.

It does have some smaller things changed, such as no longer having quick access to armageddon in mm8 - this was a bummer for me and felt kinda unneeded.

I completed MM8 followed by MM7 before I stopped. The difficulty in mm7 was a cakewalk (with the dragons).

Any of your standard MM7 (or MM8) parties should work - like the powerhouses KKKSC/SSSSC.

For those that don't know the mod, you can find it on celestialheavens (can't post the link sorry).

It's still under development, but is fully playable in the current state. The developer is keeping an eye on the thread and patching fairly often. There's optional scaling difficulty, to boost the stats of the enemies. Some art is still needed, mainly for quest items such as the unique cloaks. Recently, new potion recipes were added (see Page 81 of above thread). However, with the recent additions, the game may be moving further from the vanilla editions of the games.

Edit as of 2020: Updates are now less frequent. Most additional, non-vanilla content is now handled and updated in the (optional) community branch add-on. There is still a new quest in the base install, however, which does include some new content.

coming back to this I can say that I enjoyed this thing, mm6 has always been kind of a little bit tedious for me n this made it a lot more fluid after starting in mm7. having a shitload of artifacts and shit was also kind of cute, haven't done the cross dimensional quest yet but I'll get to it eventually.
Asking for opinions from anyone that has played it.

Is it actually enjoyable playing all three via one party or would it be better to treat it as three seperate games played via one interface? That is, Just play each continent separately starting a new party each time. At which point the only benefit of the merge is the improved graphics etc. Apparently character voices don't work properly unless selecting MM8 characters.

I'd worry that characters max out and have access to the best equipment, etc and then it's just story for the next 2/3rds.
By default, there is an option turned on, that buffs monsters quite significantly.
I am not entirely sure about the exact mechanics of that bolster volume, but it resulted in tougher mobs as early as level 15. For example the Lizards in Boofleg Bay or the Mages in Free Haven are signnifically stronger.

For the mages, without bolster, they have 6, 21 or 40 hitpoints for the red, green and blue ones. With bolster active at 100% default) at partylevel 17, they have 22, 77 and 146 hitpoints. And they also hit harder, they are actually troublesome.

I have to admit that i do not know how the bolster works, whether it's by party level or area.
If it is by area, it may be that the designers actually want you to play all three games in parallel...

Since i do not want to do that, for now i will turn this off.
