hi all i have a problem saving the game, it started when i lost power to the laptop and then when i loaded again it asked me to verify either this computer or cloud and i chose this computer as it had the latest time and so seemed ok.

however when loading i coulnt find my most recent save game and error message showing----fatal exceptiom--- invalid string passed ! in file:F:\MM8src\MM8\code\font.ccp at line number: 458

Probably some files got corrupted. I'd try either reinstalling the game (if you don't use GOG Galaxy) or verifying it (if you use Galaxy).
If the error persists, probably your last savegame is corrupted and you have to revert to an older one. The save game data are located in <path-to-game>\Saves\: identify the last one and delete it (making a backup copy could be advisable), then try to run the game again.

I have not understood this statement.
If you can't find your last savegame in the "Saves" subfolder, then it's probably lost forever, but you still have to fix the game and make it capable of saving again. That's why I suggested you to delete the most recent save: I hope this will eliminate the problem that prevents you from saving the game again. It could be even necessary to empty the whole "Saves" subfolder to fix the problem, but this will force you to start the game from the beginning.
