I am unable to locate the save game. It is not under the local/virtual store/gog folder where gog save files are usually located. Can anyone help me on this?

Well, for MM1 and MM2 the save files were in the same location as the games themselves. So take a look in your install directory and see if there's an obvious save file.

But, I haven't played MM3 yet myself... anyone else know for sure?

If not there or in game main folder, try browsing through other VirtualStore folders (under 'Default' or 'AllUsers' ).
Or just use Windows search function, with searching system and hidden folders checked.
