I just got the M&M 6-pack, and I'm running it on a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit.

All of the games only play in a small window in the middle of the screen. The rest of the screen is black. It looks like the games are already in "Full Screen" mode, but the "screen" is tiny.

I tried all the different graphic mode setups with the utility that was installed with the games (overlay, direct-3d, open gl etc.,) but I get the same result.

Any ideas on how to make this go full screen on MY screen?

Two ideas:

1) You may be able to fix it with your graphics card scaling. It looks like your graphics card is not set to scale the image up to fill your screen. Check your graphics card options and look for something called "flat panel scaling" or something similar. There should be a few settings, my favorite is the one that says "preserve aspect ratio" as this will keep the original aspect ratio of the image but will otherwise stretch it to fill the screen. So if you're playing a 4:3 game on a widescreen monitor, it will fill the screen vertically but there will be black bars on the sides so the image won't get distorted by stretching it horizontally.

2) For the DOSBox games (MM1-5, but not MM6) you can play in a window but make the window size larger. Look for the .conf file in the install directory. It should have a name like mm1.conf or mm3.conf. Open the file in notepad or another text editor. There should be a line called "windowresolution". On that line you can set the resolution to anything you want, i.e. 1280x1024 or 1024x768. The game may still start fullscreen, but if you press alt+enter it will switch to windowed mode. You can also find a line in the .conf file that will tell the game to launch in a window. I think you change the line "fullscreen=true" to "fullscreen=false".

For details on how to change .conf files, there's a lot of info on the wiki page here:

Post back to let me know if one of these worked.
If the display is set to 16 bit, see if the F4 key does anything. Another area to look at is to right click the executable file and see if 640 x 480 is checked on the Compatibility tab. The monitor itself may have the mode of the monitor set to 4:3 to add black bars at the side.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. It seems I've got something going on with my video card (an ATi). I've now found quite a few internet links about it, and the solutions seem to be hit or miss depending on which driver you've got installed. I found an option to maintain the aspect ratio in my Catalyst Control Center, but for some reason it won't save my setting. After I select it and click finish, the screen flickers, then it resets itself back to Do Not Resize.

Waltorious, your 2nd idea about the .conf file for dosbox DID work -- thanks. I'd rather have real fullscreen, but at least the window is bigger now.

Thanks again

Well, I'm glad that worked, at least. I'm pretty sure you can type in any resolution you want, even nonstandard settings. So you can set it to almost or even completely fill your screen, although it will still be windowed.
