Ok, so I'm really frustrated. There's a stupid puzzle in a big room at the Shadow Guild in the Frozen Highlands. Traps constantly shoot at you and you press some switches. But I really don't get this puzzle. I press the switches and I get the corresponding feedback (snick, click, etc.) but I don't get teleported to the genie room. There has to be something that I'm doing wrong. If anyone could offer the exact solution to this I'd be very grateful because I just spent two hours trying to do this to no avail. Some sites say to face north and press the switches starting from the west. I've done this but it still doesn't work. Do you have to press only the switches? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you look at the floor, there are tiles that are slightly different. You try to leap from one set to another and will get a "Snick" or "Snack" noise (and text line) that indicates that you successfully went from one set of special squares to another (and no sparks). I admit I never knew the precise combination, but going around the outside, leaping from one set of tiles to another, you will circle the room. After a couple times (though the first time you do it several times which is frustrating) you are then allowed to open a door that transports you to the Master Thief bedroom. You can get to the Master Thief bedroom w/o doing this "circle." But you are not allowed to confront genies that protect a gateway room. I always found this inter-dimensional room useful. But the first time is frustrating.

Not exactly "switches to press" in the sense of buttons on the wall, rather floor traps to land on. What confused me about this one was expert perception telling me that most parts of the floor are suspicious. In fact there are suspicious patches we DO want to land on and others that we DO NOT. I've read that if one ever lands where one shouldn't (triggering sparks trap) then that negates the whole thing and we have to "start again". Does that mean we have to exit the whole dungeon to make the room reset? I save before starting the puzzle so I can reload if I've mis-jumped.

The areas we do want to land on are quite large so there aren't too many. I don't think the order matters but I reckon we have to land on all of them including out towards the middle of the room (four of those). Expect two "clicks", two "snicks" and two "ca-clicks". When the balls of cold and electricity stop being fired from the walls then we have completed the puzzle so jumping over to beside the wall directly opposite the entrance then teleports us to fight the genie.

You probably just have to start over by jumping on the first tile again.
Thank you everyone for the help. I was finally able to solve the puzzle a couple of days ago by following the advice you all gave. Indeed, you do not have to leave the room or the dungeon if you land on the wrong tile, just start from the first one.
