Hello, In the first minutes of the game after exiting fountainhead, in the temple woo, the in game screen goes black, meanwhile the action buttons, map, character photos, can be seen---

This is very frustrating because it also happened in the dwarf mine of world of xeen, so I like to think it has to be something with the engine.

It's by design. You need to cast a Light spell.
