I'm a fan of MM7, MM8. But I never played MM6, because I found it can not move in turn based mode. And I was always defeated in real time mode. In MM7, MM8 I have no trouble because I can move in turn based mode. Do you guys have any suggestion?

Learn each character to use bows at their max, then go just backward and shoot all the time :D
Personally, I went into turn-based mode from a distance and shot the enemies with bows until they came too close. If they had ranged attacks I ran up to them then hit turn-based mode and engaged them in melee. Not perfect I suppose, but it worked very well for me.

Exactly, it seems to be the best solution. Use the advantage of both modes and switch them when they become less advantageous. It's a bit annoying at the beginning but you will quickly get used to it.
As soon as you note enemies approaching you can press enter to start turn based mode. You don't have to approach the enemies, they'll get close on their own.
Just make sure everyone is useful in ranged combat.
BTW master the combat quickly because you will fight tons of monsters. Too much for my taste, they are literally swarming everywhere
Good thread to hope on to. I finally started playing MM6 recently and I can't really understand why non-turn based combat is so bad, Even a humble goblin was enough to kill off my level 2 party in 'real' mode but could handle it quite handily in turn based. Its like my guys still operate on a pseudo turn based mode whilst the monsters are attacking as quickly as you could press a mouse button (and with a much better hit rate).

Of course this is not a problem in turn based except.. wandering one of those narrow dungeons you turn a corner and suddenly spam spam in the time you take to go from arrow to return one of your front line guys is pushing up daisies. It all seems very strange? Sounds like it gets better in the following games?

drinnen: snip
Early on you will want to use turn-based mode almost exclusively, but the real-time mode can be nice later on when you want to speed up the battles. Especially when using powerful ranged weapons, it can be nice to just mow down enemies with rapid fire rather than waiting through the turns. But you are right, the player characters are at a big disadvantage when fighting in real-time mode compared to the enemies.
As you gain skill and increase you stats, your recovery time will improve (as will your hitpoints/spell points and so on).

You can't really use the same strategy all throughout the game, which I kind of like about it. It stays interesting, to me at least. Your mileage may vary.
