Is it possible to delete created characters in "Might and Magic 2"? I remember when I had this game for my Apple//GS, there was an option when looking at characters in the character selection screen, but with the GOG version, that selection does not appear on the screen.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought this was HoMM2.

from the main menu "V" to view characters
when you are looking at a character Ctrl D will delete it

note if you hit g to go to town you'll need to hit esc to go back to the menu

From memory, if you have already made some progress in one game of MM2, then delete your characters and start again, it doesn't work out very well. The "world" progress is still saved and you will end up fighting really difficult monsters at the beginning of the game.

It's fine if you just want to delete the starting characters and then create a new party. Make sure you take all their starting gear first though!

Otherwise, you're probably better off reinstalling the game to reset the world progress.

AFAIK, the only file that is saved is ROSTER.DAT, not any of the map files.
The monsters are part area scaled and part level scaled.
Most or all of the quests are resolved by checking if the relevant quest item is in the party's inventory. If not, Give Quest. If it is, Quest Completed.
I know that, if I delete my characters, any completed quests will remain complete. I had a full roster of characters but didn't really need them, so I just uninstalled and reinstalled Might and Magic II, to have empty spaces for new characters. I tried to use the control-D route to remove characters, but nothing happened, they were not removed from the roster. Thanks for your help!
About trying Control-D to delete characters, I got it to work! Thank so much for the advice!

How?
Well, I couldn't figure it out before because I was at the screen where you pick which characters to play, and tried control-D. Nothing happened... so I went to the View Character screen and when I look at a character's page, there is the option on the screen to either change the character's name (control-N) or delete the character (control-D).

Great!
