Hi all,

Recently, GOG somehow seems to manage to make the offline installers much larger than the actual game installation size. The official system requirements for the SOW Definitive Edition are 70GB. But there are 30 Parts to the offline download, 28 of which are 4GB.

What is this extra stuff we are forced to download? Why are language packs and other extras not downloadable separately?

I'm sorry, but more and more GOG feels like they ignore the people who do not want to use Galaxy. But not being forced to use a store client is exactly why I signed up with GOG initially.
The game has 2 packs in the form of free dlcs:
Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™ 4K Cinematic Pack
Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™ High Resolution Texture Pack

Could it be they are part of those offline installers ?!!

Yes, that seems likely.

The game without any DLC is ~85GB, the language packs are included in the install and are about ~15GB
the game with the expansion pass DLC is ~114 GB (no HD dlc), 100gb without the language packs, and ~85 without the expansion packs.
The 4k vids and textures DLC add ~40GB to the game so the final size then is ~150gb

its a big game no doubt. If you are a collector like me, I highly recommend getting some some decent 4TB HDDs

There are no major differences between the Galaxy installation/ offline, Galaxy actually doesn't even ask if you want to also download the DLC it does it automatically and then you have to remove them after you have downloaded 150gb.

if you download the game from the galaxy extras and have the definitive edition you can only choose on the maingame+expansion, the 4k dlcs are separate, if you own the standard edition of the game then you can choose the base game only and the expansion+4k stuff is seperate.

Offline always was and still is the best, it still gives you some choice in the matter. So don't complain that Galaxy gets more attention, the only possitive it has is that it gets patches much faster, but that makes sense since it takes time to create patch files/upload/update the offline setups.

The offline installer is NOT bigger. The official requirements just haven't been updated. It also has not been updated on Steam either.

SOW Definitive Edition, installed with Galaxy, requires 112GB (ignoring the high-res and 4k DLC's).

Offline installer is 28 * 4, which is also 112GB.
