And I will add that unlike on STEAM in which you don't own *anything period, and can be blocked from installing and or playing a title you've bought.
Direct opposite of that if you want to install and play games bought thru GOG 500 or 10,000, 100,000+ years from now such would be *possible.
*Such would be possible as once you download the setup files from GOG, unlike purchases thru STEAM, GamersGate and GreenMan Gaming the GOG installer DOES NOT "DIAL HOME" to "request permission", get "authorization" from the DRM SERVERS.
Installer runs in off-line mode, does not report back to DRM servers any info.
***************
Well that, and via STEAM you don't get any installer... and if you backup the game and want to restore it (Or whatever they call it) you have to run the STEAM DRM CLIENT (STEAM) to be able to restore your "backup" AFAIK.
Ditto with GamersGate, GreenMan gaming.... GamersGate for instance you get a installer, BUT when you run it you have to enter your log in info (if you've saved the installer and run it later) so that means it's dialing home to the DRM servers.
(No DRM server/ Data is corrupted on it = No install)
*Above info is based on info from several months ago... I hope GOG never uses or isn't using the Galaxy Client to inject DRM into the process.
DRM is only needed for like the first 90-days.
DRM does not add value, does not make a game run better, all it does is creates problems.
There needs to be laws (yes laws) that say within 180 to 360 days max of a game"s release DRM gets patched out.
The only thing DRM is good for is helping game prices tank (go down).
