I think I always thought Metro was Dying Light. Anyways, I heard of Stalker after I played SS2 and Deus Ex for the first time (somewhat new to PC gaming). That was over a year ago and I just have missed the sales or something. Anyway Metro went on sale and it looked like the same franchise. Are these games connected or anything? Is one franchise considered better than the others?

I won't get around to playing anytime soon I bet. I'm playing some HUGE RPG I randomly found out about, Wizardry 8.
Both made in Ukraine.
Wow, I played about 30 min. Really exciting game. I've been wanting to play RPGs i have though.

Do you think Metro surpasses Stalker?
Uhmm, even though they are both FPS game series set in dystopies, they are not all that similar as the Metro games are on rails and mainly in the tunnels and STALKER gives you more roaming space. I like both but some mechanics in STALKER are a bit different from just about any other FPS and not everyone likes those. (After turning up the difficulty I found Shadow of Chernobyl easier than on easy...)

To answer your question: In some ways yes but in many ways not really as they are too different.
