It's up to the developer/publisher to sell it, not gog.

That's not correct because GOG already declined some further ports. Just talking about it would be more helpful instead of no further communication.

Can you elaborate on this? I can't provide a link now, but I'm sure I read multiple multiple replies from GOG employees that this is the reason why some ports are missing.

Yes, there is a link on the first page, regarding the kind of communication I'm thinking of. Here: https://news.softpedia.com/news/Deep-Silver-Refuses-to-Provide-Linux-DRM-free-Builds-to-GOG-com-for-Metro-Last-Light-Redux-481335.shtml

The addition / update is the one being of interest. And that's the major problem: Nobody would getting loud when those comments would be clear as answer here within the forum, just even within this thread because it is meant as question. But it's just a bad way to communicate while having a forum to stay in contact with the community and reacting to questions. And it's also about responsibility: There are even more ports with unclear state, for example the one of Turok 2. Users of GNU/Linux (count me in) are treated just as some second class!

And there were promises getting the communication, especially the lack of communication better. Seems nothing more happened at all!

Actually, something happened. Communication got way, way, worse. Blues used to chat with us here on the forums casually (and thus threads like Judas' wine thread was super useful for us Linux users), but after Linko's firing, something changed and you no longer see them post on anything except official support & news matters (plus the occasional moderator post telling they're locking a thread).

Indeed. It's very noticeable and combined with the low quality of the sales/release posts, the bad filtering during sales and the horrible updated site it has made me (almost) stop buying games at all. It seems that the site is run by a skeleton crew that is unable to fix any of the many issues. Anyhow I have enough games to choose from and other hobbies as well.

You are right: I had this in mind when looking around within the last weeks. And if I remember correct there was also a person responsible especially for ports and support on GNU/Linux and Mac - not really sure about it after all but I had a short conversation with the person about the used basics of Iconoclasts back then because not really into Unity and its enforced telemetry but that's another story.

The only way I use GOG for now is getting some newer indie-titles not available as boxed version. Everything else just for looking around.

I don't know if it's the same person you're thinking of, but it seems that linuxvangog left the company some time ago. Due to lack of communication from GOG, nobody knows if someone else has taken up that role... but given how slow everything Linux related is handled, it seems quite plausible that they never filled that vacancy.

Yes, that's the person / name I was talking about. Thank you for correction / addition. But indeed: If GNU/Linux is not available from release it is really slow getting ports or better to say: Just hope to get it and no further communication is done.
Some developers value us more than some platforms...
Here's good news for those who haven't seen it yet: Metro Exodus is still planned to release for Linux and macOS

3 years later and there is still no Mac/Linux version... Even tho Steam has it. What in the actual f*ck?
https://www.metrothegame.com/news/metro-exodus-linux-and-mac-versions-out-now/

The behavior of most developers when it comes to macOS / Linux ports and their GOG-customers is questionable at best.
i would buy the game if i could get the mac version over gog. Damn, Deep Silver or gog, please get your shit together. Same with No Mans Sky, where is the Mac Port? As a mac user this pushes me more and more to buy on steam or not at all.

Mac... Ask the developers if you want to have a sliver of a slight chance to get that.
