Hello everyone :)

I installed and played Metro Last Light some months ago. It was really good+fun and except for one bug in the final mission, I never had any problems with the game.

My Avira randomly detected yesterday that "steam_api64.dll" in the Metro folder is a Trojan Virus (again, I haven't touched this game for months). I guess this is a false alarm since I can't find anything about it on google. People just write to add the whole Metro folder to the "do not scan / ignore" -list in Avira.

I just want to be sure, so here is my question: Can someone who also owns Metro Last Light -from gog- do a quick scan over the folder with your anti-virus software? Avira is a bit sensitive sometimes, it also did this when I got the Sims2 complete pack from Origin over half a year ago.

add. info: My computer is fine, I run virus+malware scans every month without any finds.

You can delete that file. Is junk from the steam version..
Ok, I'll do that. Thank you for the reply!

I had the same problem three days ago. Played for a long time, no problems. Now all of the sudden Avira says the steam .api files have a trojan...lol. Not sure if the guy above you gave good information. I removed the file and now the game won't start. Had to reinstall.
@Slackline

Hm... indeed. I haven't checked if the game still runs without the file and now I get an error message too, meaning I would have ro reinstall it as well if I decide to play it again.

I just wonder if other anti-virus programs also detect this trojan. Can someone else run a quick scan over the Metro folder please?

You can try uploading the file to https://www.virustotal.com/
About the initial question - yeah. It's most likely safe, just a false alarm. Nor GOG nor Steam would let a real threat slip, and besids... I remember when, sometime ago, I tried to play to play Temple of Elemental Evil and, ironically, Avira imiedietaly blocked the exe of the game, refusing to let it go or ignore it. And it was checked - it was a false alarm.
But tell that to Avira...
There are 4 ways to fix the error steap_api 64.dll, they are all described here - steam-api64.pro, I got it 1 time, I downloaded the 3 file from the version directory.
