rvalen: EDIT - Solution Found:

I had previously changed GOG Galaxy's "Install game to:" and "Download games to:" folders and checked "Manage all folders manually".

I've since disabled that and reverted to the default directories and the game installed fine. I guess that's why Galaxy is still in beta!

Hello,

Upon downloading Metro Last Light Redux, when it reaches 100% I get the following error message via GOG Galaxy: "Installation failed: disk access problem".

The "Play" button remains greyed-out but I can select More/Manage/Verify-Repair and then select "Verify Game" where it looks like it's trying to download and install again but it get the same error message. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you.
Hi There!

I'm having this problem and have read the solution but I don't know how to get to the "Install game to:" point as seen on the attachment.

Can anyone help me get to that point so I can check "Manage all folders manually"?

Many thanks in advance!
Same problem here all of sudden when trying to update Hollow Knight (stops at 19.9% with stated error).

Quite a pain in the backside. The option "manage folders manually" seems to no longer be there, and I have no idea how to solve this.

Windows 10, 64 Bit; using Windows Defender as anti-virus and Malware Bytes.

Edit:

Downloaded the game and installed it outside of it. I thought it would now be the updated version, but when I relaunched Galaxy, it tried to update the game *again*, this time failing at 21.1%. So I uninstalled the game and then re-installed it via Galaxy. Success! The game is now updated to 1.1.4. Not exactly the swiftest method, but it works.

Same problem with the same game (updating Hollow Knight) except it fails earlier

It's definitely not my Anti-virus/Anti-malware

Kinda annoying I'll have to download the whole thing again (Australian internet... yay)

Can't believe I can't just download the relevant patch and see if that works
Seems like maybe a problem with the Hollow Knight update today then? I'm having the exact same issue with that update, but installing another game from my library via Galaxy seems ok (Fallout Classic)
Having the same problem with Hollow Knight update on GOG. It just keeps dropping out giving the above error message. I can't even uninstall the game via galaxy coz it throws the same error lol. Might have to manually delete it.
For all those who receive "Installation failed: disk access problem", I may have found a solution. It worked for me at least. I found a folder called "$AV_ASW" inside my GOG directory. Apparently, it's antivirus related, specifically AVAST ANTIVIRUS. I deleted this folder and proceeded with the download and now everything is back to normal. I am definitely no computer expert so I wouldn't ask for much help. But this is a solution that worked for me and I assume that since AVAST is quite popular and other's might have the same problem, that this might help you.
i dont have any solution for solving the problem but i discovered that if this problem is occuring you still can play the game(at least starbound)
you can go into [disc name]\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\starbound\win32
you can activate the game from there,
i dont know if its the same for any game, but it should work for starbound

You got this disk error mostly because the source disk has bad sectors . Check the log (see it under the Log tab) to see which partition it was trying to read at the time the error occurred, then try running chkdsk /f against that partition. If it failed while trying to image a hidden partition, you'd need to assign that partition a drive letter temporarily. If it still fails after "chkdsk /f", try the more in-depth chkdsk /r . It is important to note that running CHKDSK with the /r option can take a very long time because it scans every cluster within the partition. If it still fails even after the test, then your disk may be going bad.

Finally, you can set an option to ignore bad sectors that may allow the image job to complete, but that should be considered a last resort because that means reflect won't be able to guarantee that all data was captured correctly.
