Judge me all you want, but I am definitely a coward in certain gaming situations.

Is the Metro series full of jump scares, or just hideous monsters to blow away? I've never really seen it, besides one TB episode for the second game, which was pretty short, and some screenshots.

Any info would be good for deciding whether to purchase.

Cheers all

Only done Last Light Redux yet, and I would say the horror in it is not jump-scary - but it's based on atmosphere, and sometimes very bleak/dreadful. If you like games with a dark atmosphere you'll be okay.
Dark on its own I can probably do.

It's things like Robbing the Cradle in Thief DS where the puppets just freaked the absolute hell out of me, but I could play to get past. Outlast would be going too far.

For horror elements I really want a big gun to solve my problems for me.
You'll be okay. It's a tense kind of atmosphere type of horror, there's a few rare moments where something might "jump" at you but that's not the common tactic.

Excellent, thanks! Have a copy now (both!). Will find out if my heart can stand it later on.
:-D
Well, played about an hour into it, till just after Riga. So far am definitely liking it. A little dark, and movement can be odd at times. Feels like the mouse jumps around a bit. Just have to get used to the movement. Still, definitely glad I got it. And in fact it was given as a gift in the end by my dad, and free games always taste better!
