In the retail version it was possible to set the language output & the subtitle independently. For example, in the German version you could select Russian language with English subtitles.

Yes, it's possible :)

I did something like that: English speaking and Italian subtitles (just if I miss something someone says); I did mostly because the Italian dubbing of this game is really really really really really baaad!

On English language you can clearly understand that all characters have Russian accent; the original voices are a lot more, while playing with Italian speak language voices are very few (so many characters have the same voice) and they all speak perfect Italian!
