I'm experiencing cutscene weirdness with and without V's patch. Certain scenes render almost pitch black with only some effects visible. This occurs when the bodies are shown on the navigation deck, when Olga falls down, when Ocelot shoot the soldier, when Ray is revealed and when Vamp is slicing up the guy.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes that happens to me too and I am using V's Fix patch, thanks for confirming this happens without it but also that's really unfortunate. Luckily it only happens in a few cutscene camera angles with a lot of progress in-between so it's not too bad. Hopefully a developer can give us a response soon.

I am using an AMD GPU if that affects anything. (Radeon RX 580 8GB to be exact)

Yeah, I'm using a laptop with AMD integrated, a64400m with Radeon 7520g to be exact (makes potatoes blush).

Its a known bug in the pc release, been there since day one: https://github.com/VFansss/mgs2-v-s-fix/wiki/Troubleshooting-&-Debug-mode#known-bugs

Thank you :)
Yes I did see that, but when I look up other people's footage it doesn't happen (IGN just uploaded footage a couple days ago). I'm hoping that GOG may be able to fix whatever triggers this to happen.

perhaps if the issue can be fixed externally, or if konami still even has the ports original code....
time will tell sadly.

You need to use dgVoodoo2 or VMware.
If the water look strange on latest version of dgVoodoo2,you need to use old version 2.55.4.1
If you can't see anything with setting "Model Quality" to the fourth value on old version 2.55.4.1,you need to use HxD to edit mgs2_sse.exe and modify "RADEON" to "\\.\DI" at Offset:0x005fd834~0x005fd839.

Everything displays fine other than certain camera angles not rendering properly during a few cinematics (scene appears dark with only weather effects visible). Will the above fix amend this?

Sorry to bug you again. Just want to clarify one thing. My water looks fine, can I skip the voodoo thing and just do the hex edit?

Sorry, I just got home from work. What I meant was can I do the hex edit without reverting to the previous gdVoodoo. I'm going to try it anyway. EDIT: I Tried just doing the hex edit. It made the whole game look like the bug I'm experiencing instead of certain scenes.

Try to use old version 2.55.4.1.
Offset:0x005fd834~0x005fd839 must match Graphics Driver name, otherwise all textures won't correctly appear.
