Question in the title.... I LOVED Metal Gear on the NES back in the day. It's been more than thirty years since I played it, but from the screenshots, it looks pretty much the same from what I can remember.

How faithful is this GOG version to the original NES version? And does it run in DosBox? (I'm assuming so).

The nes version is based of the MSX version. The MSX version is better in everyway.

It doesnt run in dosbox, it is a native application

This is not the NES version. It's the MSX version, the original Kojima worked on. The NES version is very different, in level design, music, and some story content.
I recomend this one anyways since even if it shows it's age, it's still a classic
