Are these the exact same as the original PC ports, or have they been touched up in any way? I heard that the original ports had a couple problems that fanpatches needed to fix.
MGS1 is just a lazy 1:1 copy of the version released in 1999. I expected gog to work overtime in fixing the game before releases since the fan patched versions already exist and run much better than the ones that they've just put out.
Before even reaching the first enemy in the game I noticed these this:

• Missing music on the intro logos.
• Max resolution of 1600x1200, so playing on a larger resolution monitor the game will look small on screen.
• Textures use a low quality upscale filter that can't be disabled (especially visible on text/logos).
• No motion blur like the original had, so the wobbly water distortion effect looks straight up broken.
• Missing fade in of the main menu with the cool music ramping up.
• Keybinds are completely broken by default, the key to move downwards is not even bound by default.
• Music is using WAV versions of the original MOD tracker music. The WAVs have a ton of white noise in them.

I really wish more care was taken with this before it was put on GOG.

Yeah but when does GOG ever do more than the minimum to get things working? It's really up to the community to determine what is a playable state. They just make sure it installs and boots, no?

It looks like there's a separate Direct X launcher for the game to run it at a higher resolution and add anisotropic filtering if that means anything
Something I noticed thus far playing the MGS1 port is that even if you play it in 1080p, the game doesn't run at true 4:3; there's a black bar at the bottom of the screen for some reason.

How much treatment did Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale or System Shock 2 get? 0. So why do you think GOG would completely fix MGS?
Im trying to play MGS1 but it wont boot up. Any ideas?

Right click on the shortcut and run as administrator. it will work
I was having trouble getting MGS2 running (I could hear the music but the screen was all black). It turned out that the game was incompatible with 2 pieces of software I was running: MSI Afterburner, and an old version of D3DGear (when I installed a newer version, the game ran, but the framerate dropped to 12fps, so I just closed it) .

V's fix patch for MGS2 worked well, but I don't think I need to install the MGS Integral patch for now.
Can't find the MGS series? Were they removed it?

You should be able to find them searching "metal gear" in the search bar. Are they prevented from being accessed in Vietnam?
